Riding the Rainbow is committed to protecting and preserving the privacy of our users when using our mobile App or website or communicating electronically with us.
This notice sets out how we process any personal data we collect from you or that you provide to us through our mobile App or website. We confirm that we will keep your information secure and that we will comply fully with all applicable Data Protection legislation and regulations. Please read the following carefully to understand what happens to personal data that you choose to provide to us, or that we collect from you when you register to use Riding the Rainbow. By registering to Riding the Rainbow via the mobile App or website, you are accepting and consenting to our Privacy Notice.

🏢 Who we are.

Riding the Rainbow is operated by Afrilanthropy a.s.b.l. and was created after the Russian invasion of Ukraine and the subsequent influx of Ukrainian refugees into Luxembourg.
Afrilanthropy a.s.b.l. is a Luxembourg based NGO dedicated to promote social innovation in Africa. When the Ukrainian war started and Luxembourg started hosting hundreds of refugees, the NGO decided to play an active role in the Luxembourg solidarity response.

🤔 What we do.

Riding the Rainbow allows to bridge the gap between residents and refugees through the donation of bicycles, scooters, sports and music equipment. Basically, this initiative is aimed at young refugees, children, and teenagers, as bright emotions in the current situation help them to survive the adaptation to new conditions.
To achieve our mission, we enter into agreements with:

  • people from all over the world who want to help and donate their belongings;
  • public and charitable organizations that may donate their funds to us;
  • private investors, shops, warehouses and other entrepreneurs;
  • online publishers and partners who want to tell their readers about us; 
  • third party partners who help us provide relevant recommendations.

📥 Types of information we may collect.

By « personal data » we mean any information relating to an identified or identifiable natural person. We may collect, store and use the following kinds of personal information about individuals who visit and use our website or application:
Information you supply to us. This includes information you provide when you register as a user or when you submit a contact/enquiry form. In particular, we collect:
  • registration information that you provide when you create an account and subsequently interact with us, such as your first and last name, country of residence (for refugees), gender, date of birth, child’s name, child’s date of birth, email address, username and password;
  • information sent either one-to-one or within a limited group using our message, chat, post, or similar functionality, where we are permitted by applicable law to collect this information. 
  Information our website automatically collects about you. With regard to each of your visits to our website, we may automatically collect information, including the following:
  • technical information, including a truncated and anonymized version of your Internet protocol (IP) address, browser type and version, operating system and platform, including the device ID for sending push notifications;
  • information about your visit, including what pages you visit, how long you are on the site, how you got to the site (including date and time); 
  • page response times, length of visit, what you click on, documents downloaded and download errors.
  Information we obtain from a third party, such as a site or platform provider, about use of our applications on third-party platforms or devices.

🔞 Children's privacy.

Although our service is designed to help children, we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under the age of 18. If, upon collection, we determine that a visitor or user is under 18 years of age, we will not use or store his/her personal data. If we become aware that we have unknowingly collected personal information from a child under 18, we will use reasonable efforts to remove such information from our records.

💢 Sensitive data.

We do not collect or receive any sensitive categories of personal data.

📤 How we may use the information we collect.

We use the information in the following ways:

  • to provide you with information and/or services that you request from us;
  • to operate and enhance all features of our website and mobile App;
  • for administration, analytics, and marketing purposes;
  • to share with third parties (local partners, charitable organizations, designated IT development and maintenance provider) in order to resolve your request as soon as possible;
  • to contact you about your account or reply to any communications you send us; 
  • to troubleshoot, in our respective legitimate interest, any problems with your account or the Services.
Information we automatically collect about you. We will use this information:
  • to administer our website and mobile App, including troubleshooting and statistical purposes;
  • to improve our site and mobile App to ensure that content is presented in the most effective manner for you and for your computer, tablet or smartphone;
  • security and debugging as part of our efforts to keep our site safe and secure.
We confirm that we process your personal data in a fair and lawful manner and only for the explicit and legitimate purposes as above-mentioned. At all times, we strive to ensure that your personal data is adequate, relevant, and not excessive in relation to the purposes for which they are processed.

We would like to make sure you are fully aware of all of your data protection rights. Every user is entitled to the following:
The right to access – You have the right to request us for copies of your personal data. We may charge you a small fee for this service.
The right to rectification – You have the right to request that we correct any information you believe is inaccurate. You also have the right to request us to complete the information you believe is incomplete.
The right to erasure – You have the right to request that we erase your personal data, under certain conditions.
The right to restrict processing – You have the right to request that we restrict the processing of your personal data, under certain conditions.
The right to object to processing – You have the right to object to our processing of your personal data, under certain conditions.
The right to data portability – You have the right to request that we transfer the data that we have collected to another organization, or directly to you, under certain conditions.

🔄 How this Privacy Notice May Change.

We may change this Privacy Notice from time to time. We do not have the ability to notify users of updates by sending them messages. Please check back from time to time to see if the Privacy Notice has been updated. The latest version will be available on our website with the date of last revision.

⏳How long do we store your data.

The data will be stored for as long as is strictly necessary to fulfill the purposes for which you provide us with your personal data.Data can be deleted earlier if you request the deletion of your data.
In any case, the data will not be stored for more than 3 years. After this period, we will delete your personal data.

📝 Disclosure of your information.

We will use all reasonable efforts to ensure that your personal data is not disclosed to regional/national institutions and authorities, unless required by law or other regulations.
Unfortunately, the transmission of information via the internet is not completely secure. Although we will do our best to protect your personal data, we cannot guarantee the security of your data transmitted to our site; any transmission is at your own risk. Once we have received your information, we will use strict procedures and security features to try to prevent unauthorized access. In case of unauthorized access to your personal data, we shall inform you, in compliance with applicable laws and regulations.

⚠️ Warning.

In certain situations, donors can give things to refugees and the needy. We ask that you meet human donors in public places and do not give them personal information such as your home address. We do not control and are not responsible for the actions of others.
